About The Alexandria Kleztet... The Alexandria Kleztet is an exciting and innovative klezmer band based out of the Washington/Baltimore region. Since they first began performing together in May 1998, the unusual instrumentation and original approach of The Alexandria Kleztet has been delighting audiences in Washington, DC., Virginia, Maryland, and beyond. 2/17/2008 -- A Triple Wammie Win!
Kleztet clarinetist and bandleader Seth Kibel took home an impressive three Wammie awards at this year's ceremony, held at the State Theatre in Falls Church, Virginia. The Wammies are annual awards honoring musical achievement in the greater Washington metropolitan area. Seth was named "Best World Music Instrumentalist" and "Best Jazz Instrumentalist." His recent solo album, The Great Pretender, took home the coveted prize for "Best Blues or Traditional R&B Recording." 11/25/2007 -- A busy December!
As with every December, there are concerts and performances aplenty! The highlights include a benefit concert for Hungry for Music at the Historic Sixth & I Synagogue in Washington, DC on Monday, December 10. This show will include some of the top names in Jewish music in the Mid-Atlantic. Click here for more information, or to purchase tickets.
On December 28 and 29, we'll be making our EIGHTH annual appearance as part of the Kennedy Center's highly-acclaimed "Holiday Vaudeville" concerts. These free concerts are great fun for the entire family!
